Air Canada's 75th Anniversary

Promotional Videos

Thinking

One video catalogues Air Canada's livery from 1937 to the present day, whilst the other does the same for their fleet of tin birds. Working with an expansive and talented team under Karim Zariffa the above concepts were cooked into a feast of human powered handicraft.

You don't see the part where the number two repeatedly tried to end it's life mid shoot.

You don't see the hours spent synchronising our offscreen rope pulling, finally getting the 8 to turn into a 7 into a 6 into a 5 at precisely the correct moment.

You don't see the mad scramble to lay out and destroy the paper aeroplane logo in just one take - lest we were to be forcibly removed by the studio's disgruntled caretaker.

Bloody good fun.

Making

Metres of rope and 2 by 4's.

Litres of red and white paint.

Buckets of screws, hinges and sweat.

I don't think anyone kept tabs on how much superglue we got through. The fingers on my right hand are still stuck together.
